Have you ever wondered if BABIES ARE NATURAL BORN SWIMMERS?

If you answered YES, this may be the most important blog post you read this year.

Whilst some babies do have a little advantage because of their chubby bodies, the real answer is a definitive NO. Even though babies float in water while they are in their mother’s womb, they still NEED TO LEARN how to swim once they are born.

This is because simply floating in amniotic fluid is not the same as swimming. Babies have to learn how to regulate their breath and control their movements in the water, otherwise, things can get super scary!

Some people believe babies are born with the natural ability to right themselves (roll onto their back and float so they can breathe) in water, but that’s not true. They need CONSTANT SUPERVISION and ASSISTANCE in the water, otherwise, they could quickly drown.

Did you know that drowning is one of the top causes of ACCIDENTAL death among children under the age of 5?

I capitalized the word ‘accidental’ for a reason; no one excepts it to happen to their kids and it can literally happen to ANYONE.

Drowning does not just happen to someone else’s unsupervised child in their backyard or the public pool. Water is literally everywhere – waterparks, lakes, rivers, the ocean or even just a bathtub, a toilet lid left open, an esky with last night’s melted ice, nanna’s house, septic and water tanks, or as simple as a bucket soaking Mum’s whites.

Drowning is random and unpredictable, that’s why it’s important for you as a parent to make sure YOU and your child know how to be safe around water, no matter where you encounter it.

That’s why I designed my series of Water Awareness books to specifically educate parents and their infants on water safety and swim skills. They’re filled with age-appropriate activities, accurate pictures, and simple language that is easy for parents (and your little ones) to understand. No industry jargon or confusing diagrams!

By starting to teach your child about water safety and how to swim from a young age, you can help them develop the confidence and skills that will stay with them for a lifetime AND educate yourself.
